Joining the Steam Powered Folding@home team is a simple, painfree process.  Our team number is 50019.

How do I get started?

It's simple.  Folding@home will run on any computer, and it can be run on as many computers as you like under your name.  To get started, first download the application for the appropriate opterating system from the following page:

The graphical version is reccomended, as it gives you a sense of what your protien is and how your computer is folding it.

When the application is started, you will be greeted with a start up options screen.  Fill it out like so:

Fill the User Name box with your appropriate tag.

Next, set up your network options.  Default options should be perfect on a normal PC.  If you have a high end PC, checking the box that allows you to receive work assignments larger than 5mb is reccomended.

Once you are done setting up the program will begin to download, process, and fold your first protien Work Unit, or WU.  Your name and score will show up on the official team stats page once your first WU is complete.  Don't be intimidated by the outrageous amounts of time until completion of the WU that the program gives you.  You may see estimation dates over a year away from now-give the program a few hours to get started, and it will then give you an accurate estimation.

That's it-you're now officially folding!  Borg on!
